He has won all three starts with a 1.99 GAA and .947 SV% since returning from an ankle injury on January 2. He appears to have the keys to the 'Canes crease and is a good waiver wire addition for teams in need of goaltending.

Since returning from his ankle injury he has taken the reigns as the Carolina starter. He will get his second start in as many nights when they take on the Predators tonight. It is a great matchup and he makes for a strong Sunday start.

Khudobin stopped 38 of 41 shots in Thursday's win over the Capitals. He showed no rust after not starting an NHL game since October 13. He will face a surging Islanders team who have won four of their last five, beating Detroit, Minnesota, Boston and Chicago. It won't be an easy game but Khudobin looked great two days ago.

Khudobin has not started a game since October 13, a game in which he suffered an ankle injury mid-way through. In his first three starts with the Hurricanes, he has went 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .929 SV%. One of those wins came against the Capitals, who he will face tonight. He stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 3-2 win that evening.

Khudobin, 27, played two games during his conditioning stint with the Checkers, going 1-1-0 with a 3.03 GAA and .928 SV%. He was named first star of Charlotte’s game on Monday night, stopping 41 shots in the Checkers’ 3-2 win at Rockford. Khudobin played three NHL games this season for the Hurricanes, going 2-0-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .929 save percentage, prior to suffering an ankle injury on October 13 against Phoenix.

Khudobin has been out of the lineup since October 13. Khudobin will be the third goalie on the trip as Justin Peters and Cam Ward will also travel. If Khudobin is healthy enough to dress, they may send Peters back to the AHL despite his strong play.

Khudobin has missed the last 12 games and is probably over a week away from returning. When he is healthy he will return to the backup role behind Cam Ward who is also near a return.

Khudobin was originally expected to be back before Cam Ward, but Ward has resumed skating and Khudobin has not. He would have had a chance to be the Hurricanes number-1 for a shot period of time, but he remains week-to-week and will be Ward's backup when he returns.

Hurricanes head coach Kirk Muller said that Khudobin's skate went "OK" but that he needs more time. Justin Peters will start tomorrow and Khudobin should be considered questionable for Thursday's meeting with the Islanders.

Khudobin has missed the last six games, but will become the starter when he returns with Cam Ward out with a lower-body injury of his own.

Cam Ward has taken over in the Hurricanes net. Khudobin allowed two goals on 20 shots prior to exiting the game.

Khudobin is 2-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .940 SV%. He has outplayed Cam Ward thus far and another good start today could go a long way. He has a solid matchup vs. Phoenix, on a quiet Sunday in the NHL he might be the best spot start option.

Khudobin stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 2-1 win over the Flyers on Sunday. Cam Ward has yet to win so the Hurricanes will turn to Khudobin tonight against the Capitals. Facing Alex Ovechkin is never a great matchup. There are better options than Khudobin tonight.

Khudobin will make his Hurricanes debut tonight vs the Flyers. He lost his only start vs. Philly last season with a 4.61 GAA and .813 SV%.

Khudobin went 9-4-1 with a 2.32 GAA and .920 SV% as the Bruins backup to Tuukka Rask. He will go to Carolina and replace Dan Ellis as Cam Ward's backup.
