Raanta allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Blackhawks win over the Wild on Tuesday. He served as Corey Crawford’s backup last night, but he will get the call tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. Raanta has won each of his last four starts with a 2.00 GAA and .941 SV%. There are a lot of spot-start options tonight, but Raanta should be one of the better ones.

Raanta stopped 40 of 41 shots in the Blackhawks 4-1 win over the Blues on Wednesday. It was a great way for Raanta to return to the crease and put a stamp on the Hawks’ starting gig while Corey Crawford is out. He is 2-2-0 with 1.77 GAA and .947 SV% on the year—tonight he faces the Habs at home where he is 2-0.

Raanta will make his first start since October 25th. He was in-line to get a start on November 22nd, but got sick and couldn’t play. In three starts this season he is 1-2-0 with a 2.03 GAA and .933 SV%, but draws a very difficult matchup vs. a Blues team who are 7-2-1 in their last 10.

Raanta had been scheduled to start against the Oilers but illness denied him that opportunity. Raanta was back on Tuesday, practicing for the first time since the Blackhawks’ morning skate on Saturday. He won’t start on Wednesday against Colorado. Coach Joel Quenneville said he’ll see if Raanta starts one of the back-to-back games (Anaheim and Los Angeles) coming at the end of the trip.
