Ben Harpur News
Ben Harpur (pectoral surgery) will be out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Harpur played 42 games with the Rangers last season, tallying six points (1G / 5A), but spent all of the 2023-24 campaign to this point in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, scoring three points (1G / 2A) in seven games. He is undergoing pectoral surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

The Maple Leafs have acquired Ben Harpur, Cody Ceci, Aaron Luchuk and a 2020 third-round pick from the Senators for Nikita Zaitsev, Connor Brown and Michael Carcone.

Harpur is a huge defenseman (6-foot-6, 222 lbs) who plays a physical brand of hockey. Harpur averaged 1.7 hits and 1.4 blocked shots per game in 2018-19 but contributes very little offensively—1G, 4A in 51 games. Harpur could potentially be a third-pairing defenseman for Toronto in 2020 but they have a number of young defensemen in the pipelines who will be looking to push Harpur out.
