Leipsic had an Instagram conversation made public earlier in the week that revealed some inappropriate comments made by Leipsic about women and his teammates. The NHL called Leipsic's comments "misogynistic and reprehensible" and on Friday the Capitals took the first step in terminating the 25-year-old's contract. During his 61 games in Washington, Leipsic scored three goals and eight assists (11 points).
Leipsic is the second forward that the Kings have claimed off of waivers in less than a week. Leipsic has bounced around the NHL a little bit but has produced some decent numbers at every stop. In total, he has 30 points (8G / 22A) in 81 career NHL games and should help the Kings top-9 that is lacking talent.
Leipsic had registered just 13 points (2G/11A) in 44 games with the Golden Knights this season. He had recently fallen out of favour with head coach Gerard Gallant, as he was routinely scratched and averaged just over 11 minutes of ice time per game. The move to Vancouver should give Leipsic plenty of opportunities to show what he can do at the NHL level.
Leipsic has not been in the lineup for the last three games but he will be back in tonight in Carolina. Leipsic will be back in his usual spot on the third line and either Oscar Lindberg or Ryan Carpenter will be the healthy scratch. Leipsic has just one goal but 11 assists (12 points) in 34 games this season.
Leipsic has been a healthy scratch for the last five games, but will draw in against his former team tonight in Toronto. Leipsic will replace Will Carrier in the lineup and comes into tonight with four assists in eight contests.
Leipsic, 21, who scored in his NHL debut on February 13th, was recalled this morning after the the Maple Leafs traded Nick Spaling to San Jose. Leipsic has 16 goals and 21 assists (37 points) in 49 games with the Marlies this season.
Leipsic, 20, was a third-round pick (89th overall) in 2012. He is under-sized but feisty and is currently 4th in rookie scoring in the AHL. He recorded seven goals and 28 assists (35 points) in 47 games with Milwaukee (AHL).
