McElhinney allowed three goals on 12 shots after replacing Frederik Andersen in the Maple Leafs’ blowout loss in Dallas on January 31st. With Andersen starting last night, McElhinney will face the same Stars team tonight on home-ice. He is 1-2-0 with a 2.52 GAA .916 SV% since being claimed by the Maple Leafs.

McElhinney allowed two goals on 37 shots in a win in his Maple Leafs debut in Ottawa on January 14th. It was a nice debut for McElhinney, who will be making his second start in Blue and White tonight in Philadelphia. After struggling for much of January, the Flyers have suddenly won two in a row and will present a tough test for the veteran netminder.

The Maple Leafs have claimed Curtis McElhinney off of waivers from Columbus.

McElhinney has gone 2-1-2 with a 2.39 GAA and .924 SV% in just seven appearances (five starts) this season, but had one of the worst seasons of his career a year ago and has a sub-par career .905 SV%. The Maple Leafs clearly wanted Antoine Bibeau in the AHL and the veteran McElhinney is a low-cost option to backup Frederik Andersen, who will see the vast majority of starts in the second half.

McElhinney stopped all four shots that he faced after replacing Sergei Bobrovsky in the Blue Jackets’ loss in Washington on Thursday. McElhinney will make his first start since December 20th—he stopped 44 of 46 shots in a win over the Kings. Tonight he will take on the Rangers on home-ice. The veteran has gone 2-0-2 with a 1.90 GAA and .939 SV% this season.

McElhinney will start his first game of the season following Sergei Bobrovsky’s nine straight starts. The 33-year-old netminder was 2-7-3 with a 3.30 GAA and .890 SV% in 12 starts and six relief appearances a season ago. He is a risky start in St. Louis with his team playing last night.

McElhinney stopped all four shots that he faced in the Blue Jackets loss to the Sabres last Friday. Tonight he will make his first start since January 2nd, that night he allowed four goals on 27 shots in a 5-4 shootout win vs. Washington. He is 1-5-0 with a 3.47 GAA and .885 SV% on the road this season.

McElhinney (ankle) has been placed on IR; out indefinitely

McElhinney left Saturday’s game vs. the Capitals with an ankle injury and did not return. On Monday he was placed on IR but the Blue Jackets didn’t offer any insight on how long he would be out, other than “out indefinitely.” With McElhinney and Sergei Bobrovsky now out, the Blue Jackets will have a goalie tandem of Anton Forsberg and Joonas Korpisalo.

McElhinney allowed three goals on 43 shots in the Blue Jackets win over the Stars on Tuesday. Yep, the Blue Jackets beat the Stars. Overall, McElhinney has a 3.27 GAA and .891 SV% on the season, so it will be difficult to trust him on most nights, especially tonight with the Capitals in town. He is 1-1-2 with a 2.90 GAA and .903 SV% on home ice.

He has struggled and the Stars are the highest scoring team in the NHL, so you should probably stay far, far away from McElhinney.
