Despite dealing with kidney stones, it looks like Desharnais will give it a go tonight vs. the Hurricanes. He will centre the fourth line though, so he has no fantasy relevance.
Boo Nieves will miss Sunday’s game with a lower-body injury so Desharnais will play between Jimmy Vesey and Paul Carey this afternoon. Desharnais has been a healthy scratch in the last three games and comes into play with just eight points (2G / 6A) in 20 games.
Desharnais has been regressing for the last few years, but has really struggled this season, registering just 10 points (4G / 6A) in 31 games with the Canadiens. The Oilers need some help in the face-off dot and Desharnais will bring that as a bottom-6 forward.

Desharnais left Tuesday’s game with a knee injury and the HAbs announced this evening that he will miss at least six weeks. This is a huge blow for the Canadiens, who will also be without centre Alex Galchenyuk for 6-8 weeks.
Desharnais will miss his second straight game tonight and if he misses three weeks he will miss nine of 10 more games. With Desharnais out, Lars Eller is expected to remain in the top-6.
Desharnais suffered a foot injury in the Canadiens game in Arizona on Monday. With Desharnais out, Lars Eller is expected to move into the Habs’ top-6. Desharnais is listed day-to-day for now without a timeframe for his return.
Desharnais went to the hospital on Sunday because of dehydration, but is with the Canadiens in Tampa Bay and should play on Wednesday.
Desharnais missed Game 2, but will travel to Tampa Bay and could play in Game 3 or Game 4. Desharnais did not record a point in Game 1 and has just two assists in seven games in the postseason.
Desharnais has registered a goal and two assists in his last two games, which were both Canadiens losses. He swapped places with Tomas Plekanec in practice on Thursday and is expected to skate in between Max Pacioretty and Dale Weise on Saturday.
Despite missing the morning skate, Desharnais will be in the lineup tonight vs. the Penguins as the Habs make no changes up front.
