Bruins’ head coach Claude Julien said that Warsofsky’s injury is “worse than day-to-day”. He had recorded his first point of the year last night, but will be out of the lineup for awhile now. The Bruins will have to make another call-up.
The Bruins blueline struggled on Tuesday without Zdeno Chara and Johnny Boychuk, so they are going to try a few combinations of young players to see what works best. Warsofsky has one points and a minus-3 rating in the AHL this season and has one goal and one assist in six career NHL games.
Warsofsky has one goal in four games with the Bruins this season. While with Providence he has three goals and 26 assists (29 points) in 42 games. Warsofsky will slide into the lineup for the Bruins final two games before the Olympic break as captain Zdeno Chara heads to Sochi early. Warsofsky was in Chara's spot on the Bruins top power-play unit in practice this morning. He could be a useful add in deep leagues for the rest of this week.
Warsofsky has been recalled and will play tonight after Dennis Seidenberg was injured in Friday's game vs. the Senators. Warsofsky has no points and a minus-1 in three games with the Bruins.
Warsofsky was the Blues' fourth round pick (95th overall) in 2008 and is in his fourth season with the Providence Bruins (AHL). The 23-year-old defenseman is a Massachusetts native who played of Boston University, so he is a Bostonian through-and-through. He is under-sized at 5-foot-8 and 170 lbs. but is a solid offensive defeseman. He has two goals and 14 assists (16 points) in 26 games with Providence.
No immediate fantasy hockey value in the AHL.
