Derek Roy News
The Capitals have signed Derek Roy to a professional tryout.

Roy split time with the Predators and Oilers in 2014-15. He didn’t produce in Nashville, but was great after being acquired by Edmonton. In 46 games with the Oilers, the 32-year-old registered 11 goals and 11 assists. He will look to beat out the likes of Jay Beagle and Michael Latta for the third or fourth line centre role in Washington.

The Oilers have acquired Derek Roy from the Predators for Mark Arcobello.

Roy, 31, who cleared waivers today, is now heading to the lowly Oilers. The Oilers did not want to add another contract so that is why they passed on him on waivers and then dealt Arcobello for him. Roy makes $400K (per NHLNumbers) more per year than Arcobello, but also has much more experience. He had 10 points (1G / 9A) in 26 games with the Predators.

Derek Roy cleared waivers and will be assigned to Milwaukee (AHL).

Roy, 31, will head back to the AHL for the first time since 2005-6 when he had 20 points (7G / 13A) in eight games with the Rochester Americans. He had 10 points (1G / 9A) in 26 games with the Predators this season.

The Predators have placed Derek Roy on waivers.

Roy has served as a healthy scratch in the last three games and has now been placed on waivers. He has 10 points (1G / 9A) in 26 games this season. It would be surprising if a team like Edmonton or another team in need of a veteran pivot does not claim Roy.

The Predators have signed Derek Roy to a one-year, $1 million deal.

With Mike Fisher out for 4-6 months with a ruptured Achilles, the Predators have signed two veteran playmakers today, Roy and Mike Riberio. Roy had nine goals and 28 assists (37 points) in 75 games with the Blues last season. Roy is undersized at 5-foot-9 but still has the ability to be a productive playmaker with the Preds this season.

Roy (lower-body) will be back in the Blues lineup Thursday.

Roy missed the last two games with a lower-body injury but will be back tonight vs. the Wild. Roy has nine goals and 28 assists (37 points) in 67 games this season. Chris Porter will come out of the lineup with Roy returning.

DAL trades Derek Roy to VAN for Kevin Connauton and a 2nd round pick.

The Canucks were desperately seeking another centre with Ryan Kesler out with a broken foot. Roy has four goals and 18 assists in 30 games with the Stars this season. He should continue to be a solid fantasy player with his new team.

Derek Roy
Derek Roy has been activated from injured reserve and will play tonight for the Stars.

Roy missed the Stars last 5 games but will return tonight. Roy picked 2 assists in his first 4 games as a Star. He will play alongside Loui Eriksson and Tomas Vincour. The Stars need Roy and his line mates to produce as they have struggled to score on a consistent basis.

Stars center Derek Roy (groin) will not play Friday. Gulutzan said he hopes Roy, who did not practice Thursday, will be ready early next week.

Roy will miss his 4th straight game tonight, and looks like his 5th tomorrow as well. The Stars hope to have him back next week but that still is tentative. The Stars called up Antoine Roussel on Thursday to fill in for Roy and he will make his NHL debut tonight.

Center Derek Roy, who skipped Wednesday's practice with flu-like symptoms, returned today and should be ready for Friday.

Doesn't sound like Roy will miss any playing time after missing yesterday's practice. He has 15 goals and 41 points through 75 games.
