Samorukov cleared waivers Tuesday and will return to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) after not appearing in any games for the Penguins during his call up. Pittsburgh signed Samorukov to a one-year, $775,000 contract three weeks ago and he has a goal, five points and four PIMs in 15 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.
Samorukov had been playing with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) and had a goal, four assists, four PIMs and a -1 plus/minus through 15 games and has signed a one-year, $775,000 contract Tuesday. The 24-year-old defenseman has appeared in three NHL games in the last two seasons and has failed to pick up a point.
Samorukov had four goals, 16 assists, and 26 PIMs across 66 games played with Springfield (AHL) and has been recalled to St. Louis for the first time this season. The 23-year-old had previously played in one NHL game prior to this season, failing to pick up a point and going a -2 plus/minus.
Samorukov was a third-round pick (No.84 overall) in 2017 and cleared waivers on Saturday. Samorukov, who had 18 points (3G / 15A) in 51 AHL games last season, will report to Springfield (AHL).
Samorukov made his NHL debut with the Oilers earlier in the season but has spent most of the season in Bakersfield (AHL), where he has scored two goals with 10 assists (12 points) in 37 games.
