Etem has not appeared in an NHL game this season, but returns to Tucson where he has one goal and one assist in one game this season. He was sent to the AHL to create a roster spot for the Coyotes to recall Marek Langhamer after an injury to Antti Raanta on Thursday.
Etem was originally drafted by the Ducks back in 2010 (29th overall) and played with their organization until the 2014-15 season before ending up with the Rangers and then the Canucks last year. He hasn’t lived up to the billing of a first round pick, having collected just 46 points (22G / 24A) in 170 NHL games.
Etem did not make the Canucks opening night roster and has been placed on waivers with the hope that they can send him to Utica (AHL). Etem had 15 points (7G / 8A) in 58 games with the Canucks and Rangers last year.
Etem, 24, had 12 points (7G / 5A) in 39 games with the Canucks after he was acquired from the Rangers, where he had three assists in 19 games. The 2010 29th overall pick has yet to make a big dent at the NHL level after posting 107 points (61G / 46A) in his final WHL season.
Etem, 23, was the 29th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. Etem was in his first season with the Rangers after spending the first four years of his career with the Anaheim Ducks. Etem had a difficult time cracking the Rangers lineup—he has just three assists in 19 games this season. He should have a much easier time cracking the Canucks lineup.
Etem was a healthy scratch on Tuesday and has averaged just 11:05 TOI in 19 games this season. He has played on the fourth line for the majority of the year, a spot that does not fit his playing style. He has reportedly been the subject of some trade calls recently, but as of now he heads the Hartford for a conditioning stint.
Etem will miss Wednesday’s game with an illness, so Tanner Glass has been recalled and will replace him in the lineup. Consider Etem day-to-day.

Etem served as a healthy scratch on Sunday with the addition of Rene Bourque. He heads back to Norfolk after scoring two goals with two assists in 21 games with the Ducks.
Etem had no points, nine shots and 12 penalty minutes while averaging 10:21 TOI in four games with the Ducks this postseason. With Etem going back to Norfolk, expect Kyle Palmieri to get back in the lineup in game 3.
Etem is filling in for Selanne for Game 4.
With Cam Fowler and Nick Bonino out with injuries, the Ducks have recalled Etem and Rickard Rakell. Etem has registered seven goals and four assists (11 points) in 28 games with the Ducks this season. While with Norfolk he has 42 points (16G / 26A) in 39 games.
Going the other way is David Steckel. Etem has skated in 26 games this season and has racked up 10 points (6G / 4A) and a plus-2 rating.
