The Maple Leafs had plenty of cap-room to take on Brewer’s $3.75M cap-hit. The Leafs wanted to move Holzer for a draft-pick, rather than lose him in free agency for nothing this offseason. Brewer has just one goal and five assists in 26 games between the Lightning and Ducks this season.
Brewer will need to participate in a few full practices before he gets back in the lineup. I probably wouldn’t be wise for Ducks to throw him back into the lineup tonight vs. Chicago.
The Ducks placed Colby Robak on waivers this afternoon to clear room for Brewer to be activated from injured reserve. Brewer won’t play tonight vs. Sharks, but he could be back in the lineup on Friday vs. Chicago.
Brewer was acquired from Tampa Bay on November 28th and played just two games with the Ducks. He broke the bone in his foot in Monday’s win over the Bruins. Thankfully for the Ducks, Clayton Stoner is ready to return tonight after missing action with the mumps.
Brewer, 35, has four assists in 17 games with the Lightning this season. The Ducks are going to be without Francois Beauchemin for 4-6 weeks, to they are bring the veteran Brewer in to shore up the back-end.
Brewer was injured in Saturday's game against the Hurricanes. There is no official word as to the nature and severity of Brewer's injury, but on should be made available following the Christmas break.
Brewer missed the last two games, but should return tonight. It is perfect timing for the Lightning who just lost Victor Hedman and Keith Aulie in their last outing. The one-time Olympian has a career-high of 29 points and only has five assists in 26 games this season, so he is not a legit fantasy asset.
It sounds like Brewer will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury. Expect Keith Aulie to remain in the lineup while Brewer is sidelined.
Expect Brewer to stay in the lineup tonight. He has a goal and 10 points over 35 games, manning the top PP unit for most of the season.
Expect Brewer to get back into the lineup tomorrow. He has a goal and 10 points over 35 games, manning the top PP unit for most of the season.
Brewer was able to return to the game and should be fine moving forward. He's established himself as a team leader since coming to Tampa Bay so losing him on the blue line would hurt.
Look for Brewer to stay on the top defensive unit. Through six games this season, the former captain of the Blues produced an assist with a minus-4 rating.
Brewer will likely be a game-time decision for tomorrow's game. Look for Bruno Gervais to re-enter the lineup should Brewer not be able to suit up.
