The Avalanche have sent Eric Gelinas to San Antonio (AHL).

Gelinas cleared waivers last week but wasn’t sent down right away. Gelinas was a healthy scratch for the last two games and heads to San Antonio for the first time. During his last AHL stint, Gelinas had five points (1G / 4A) in 13 games with Albany in 2013-14.

Gelinas will make his season debut on Saturday.

Gelinas sat as a healthy scratch for the first four games of the season, but will replace Fedor Tyutin (groin) tonight in Florida. Gleans had no points in six games with the Avalanche last year, but had six points (1G / 5A) in 34 games with New Jersey before the trade.

The Avalanche have acquired Eric Gelinas from the Devils for a 2017 third round pick.

Gelinas has often served as a healthy scratch this season and with the Devils acquiring David Warsofsky off of waivers earlier in the day, the writing was on the wall. Gelinas is a big body (6’4” / 215 lbs.) with a bigger shot, but that’s what he is known for, not his defensive prowess.

Gelinas will be a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

Gelinas has shuffled in and out of the lineup this season and tonight he will come out in favour of Jon Merrill, who was a healthy scratch in the last two games. Gelinas, who is known for his offence, has just three points (1G / 2A) in 19 games this season.

Gelinas will return to the Devils lineup on Tuesday.

Gelinas was a healthy scratch in the last three games, but will be back in the lineup tonight because of an undisclosed injury to Jon Merrill. After a breakout season in 2013-14, Gelinas has recorded one goal and three assists with a minus-2 rating in eight games this season. Expect him to be paired with Adam Larsson as well as skate on the second power-play unit.

The Devils signed defenseman Eric Gelinas to a one-year deal.

Gelinas, 23, had seven goals and 22 assists in 60 games in his first NHL season. The 6-foot-4 defenseman averaged 2:25 power-play minutes per night and tallied five goals and 17 assists with the extra-man, both good for second among Devils D-men. He has an a rocket slap-shot and will be a key member of the New Jersey power-play in 2014-15.

The Devils have recalled defenseman Eric Gelinas from Albany (AHL).

Gelinas, 22, played five games for the Albany (0G / 2A / +3) since he was sent down January 31. He had to sit out four AHL games earlier in the month as he was ineligible to play during the NHL’s Olympic break because he spent too much time on New Jersey’s roster. On the season, Gelinas has six goals and 16 assists (22 points in 44 games with New Jersey.
