Fabian Brunnstrom News
DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings allowed forward and expectant father Fabian Brunnstrom to stay home today after practice rather than fly with the team to Boston tonight for Friday's game against the Bruins.

While Brunnstrom will be technically on the roster, he will not play in Friday's tilt against the Bruins. Keep him out of the lineup if you own him. Prior to the demotion, the Swedish winger registered an assist in four games.

"I think Brunner’s a guy who eventually will be able to challenge for a top-six (forward) spot. I really believe that," Babcock said. "We understand it’s a long year. We’re about winning today and that’s our focus.

As previously stated, if Brunnstrom works out anywhere in the NHL, it will be with the Red Wings. Look for him to draw into a top six role at some point due to injuries or inconsistency.

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have signed forward Fabian Brunnstrom, who was in training camp on a tryout.

If Brunnstrom could succeed anywhere in the NHL, it would be with Detroit. The 26-year-old holds 19 goals and 40 points through 99 career NHL games, which would indicate he has potential similar to a Red Wings forward like Jiri Hudler. Keep the Swedish import in the very back of your mind as he could make an impact filling in for injured Wings.

The Red Wings are likely to sign forward Fabian Brunnstrom, in camp on a tryout, by Monday. "He looks good," general manager Ken Holland said. "He’s in front of the net, he’s big and strong, he’s competed hard.

DETROIT -- If the Detroit Red Wings elect to sign Fabian Brunnstrom -- a strong possibility, considering how well he has played in the preseason -- the parameters of a deal already are in place.
