Jets head coach Paul Maurice said it will be months before Clitsome can start skating again, meaning that his season is likely over. However, Maurice is confident that Clitsome will eventually be able to resume his career.

Clitsome is listed as day-to-day, but coach Paul Maurice says it’s more like a couple of weeks. Clitsome will undergo some more tests before they release and official timetable. Maurice would not say if the injury is related to the back injury that Clitsome battled in 2013-14.

Clitsome missed Sunday’s practice with an undisclosed injury. Coach Paul Maurice said that Clitsome is undergoing tests today and will be reevaluated on Monday. It sounds like he will miss tomorrow’s game vs. the Sharks, which leaves an already shorthanded Jets blue line down another defenseman.

Clitsome was expected to start the season on the Jets top-pair with Dustin Byfuglien, but this IR stint will delay that. Playing with Byuglien should help Clitsome's fantasy value. Buff loves to fire the puck, which creates a lot of assist opportunities for his D-partner.
