Cates will head back to Lehigh Valley of the AHL after failing to pick up any points and four SOG through five games while averaging very limited minutes with 8:59 ATOI. He heads back to the AHL where he had four goals and seven points in 11 games prior to his previous promotion.
Cates was recalled from the AHL on Tuesday and will draw into the Flyers' lineup Wednesday in exchange for Max Willman. In three games of limited action with Philadelphia, he has yet to pick up a point while playing only 8:22 ATOI.
Cates will join his brother yet again in Philadelphia after being recalled from Lehigh Valley (AHL) for the second time this season. He was productive In 11 games with the Flyers AHL affiliate, picking up four goals and three assists. In three games in the NHL earlier this year, he had no points while averaging only 8:22 ATOI in a bottom-six role.
Cates has scored two goals and four assists (six points) in 21 AHL games this season. The 24-year-old has scored one goal with one assist in 11 career NHL games. He'll replace Kevin Hayes (lower-body) on the active roster.
Cates missed the last two games while in COVID-19 protocol but will replace Connor Bunnaman in the lineup on Saturday. Cates has scored one goal while averaging just 8:36 TOI/gm in four games with the Flyers this season.
Cates has scored two goals with three assists (five points) in 18 AHL games this season. The 24-year-old made four NHL appearances last year and could make his season debut on Friday or Saturday.
