James van Riemsdyk, who had been bothered by a groin pull, was a late addition to the ice at practice.
The Flyers expect JVR to play his best hockey on the top line alongside Jaromir Jagr and Claude Giroux. Last season the 22-year-old scored 21 goals and 40 points over 75 games. Look for him to approach 30 goals in his third professional year.
As far as van Riemsdyk is concerned, he will most likely be shut down for the final three preseason games as a precaution. “There’s a chance [van Riemsdyk] could play Saturday, but we’ll probably be a little more careful with that,” said Holmgren.
