Jason Pominville News
Pominville (undisclosed) will not play on Monday.

Pominville is dealing with an undisclosed injury and will come out of the lineup in Buffalo. Missing Monday’s game likely means that the veteran winger won’t be available for Tuesday’s game vs. Toronto either. Conor Sheary is expected to be healthy and replace Pominville in the lineup.

The Sabres acquired Jason Pominville, Marco Scandella and a 2018 4th round pick from the Wild for Tyler Ennis, Marcus Foligno and a 2018 3rd round pick.

The former Sabres’ captain had two 30-goal seasons and six straight seasons of 50-plus points when he was in Buffalo. A once consistent 30-30 threat, has failed to top 20 goals in each of the last three seasons, but heads back to Buffalo, where he will look to rediscover his goal-scoring touch in the Sabres’ top-9.

Pominville (mumps) expects to be in the Wild lineup on Sunday.

Pominville missed the last three games with mumps, but took part in practice on Saturday and said he expected to play vs. the Sharks on Sunday. Pominville skated on the fourth line and top power play unit and has registered 12 points (2G / 10A) in his last nine games.

There was no word prior to warmups that Pominville was feeling ill, but he will not play tonight because of mumps and that puts her status for Tuesday’s game in jeopardy as well. With Pominville out, Jordan Schroeder will play when he was expected to be a healthy scratch.

Pominville missed Wednesday’s practice and today’s morning skate, so he will be held out of the lineup tonight vs. the Oilers. With Pominville out, Justin Fontaine will get back into the lineup. Pominville is day-to-day and questionable for Saturday’s game vs. the Canadiens.

The Minnesota Wild have signed Jason Pominville to a five-year, $28-million US contract extension.

The 30-year-old was acquired by Minnesota on Trade Deadline Day from Buffalo last season. He tallied nine points (4-5=9) in 10 games after coming to Minnesota. Pominville will skate on a line with Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise as the Wild open their regular season tonight.
