D’Amigo was high-sticked in the face on Saturday and underwent facial surgery and will miss remainder of the regular season as a result.
D’Amigo was not on the ice for the morning skate and will apparently undergo an MRI, so he could be dealing with a serious injury. Tim Schaller will be recalled and replace him in the lineup.
D’Amigo, 24, has 19 points (6G / 13A) with Rochester this season. Overall he has nine goals and 17 assists (26 points) in 59 games in the AHL, between Rochester and Springfield.
D’Amigo, 23, was acquired by Columbus along with a conditional seventh round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Matt Frattin on July 1. D'Amigo will likely be inserted into the lineup tonight to bring some energy to the Maple Leafs. With the Red Wings in town, a team who rarely fights, D'Amigo will likely replace Colton Orr on the fourth line. D'Amigo is a strong two-way forward who excels on the penalty kill. He has one goal and one assist in 19 games this season.
