Whitney has collected 11 goals and 17 assists (28 points) in 55 games with the San Antonio Rampage this season, but will head to the Tucson Roadrunners (AHL) in a minor league deal.

Whitney only play 8:00 in his NHL debut on Friday. He obviously wasn't what the Devils were looking for as their first line LW. Jacob Josefson has taken his spot in the meantime.
Devils' GM said they are looking from someone to play on the LW with Travis Zajac and Jaromir Jagr and wanted to give Whitney a look there. Whitney is a 25 -year-old, undrafted forward. He is undersized at 5-foot-6 and 165 lbs. Whitney is in his third full season with Albany, he has 36 points (16G / 20A) in 40 games this season. Whitney has totalled 57 goals and 74 assists (131 points) in 178 career AHL games.
