Gibson is 4-4-1 on the year but 0-2-0 with a 2.68 GAA and .905 SV% on the road this season. He is a great young goalie, but the lack of Ducks’ scoring will limit the amount of wins he collects.

The Ducks have recalled John Gibson from San Diego (AHL).

Frederik Andersen is not expected to dress on Tuesday because of flu-like symptoms, so Gibson has recalled to serve as Anton Khudobin’s backup tonight vs. the Flames. The Ducks have a back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday, so there’s a chance that Gibson could make his season debut tomorrow in Arizona. The 22-year-old has gone 7-4-1 with a 2.63 GAA and .917 SV% in 13 games with San Diego this season.

The Ducks have signed John Gibson to a three-year contract extension worth $6.9M ($2.3M AAV).

Gibson is expected to start this season in the AHL after the Ducks signed Anton Khudobin this offseason. Gibson was going to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season and Khudobin will become a UFA after this year. Which paves the way for Gibson to be a full-time NHLer next year. However, there is still a chance he is on the Ducks roster throughout this season.

Gibson has missed the first four games of round 1 with a hand injury and the first two games of this series with an illness. Travelling to Calgary, suggests that Gibson could suit up as Frederik Andersen’s backup for Game 3 on Tuesday or Game 4 on Friday.
