Peterka has seven goals, 12 assists, 76 SOG and 22 PIMs through 49 games this season but will head to the press box Monday as a healthy scratch. He is replaced by Rasmus Asplund in the lineup.
Peterka had seven goals, 11 assists, 64 SOG and 20 PIMs through 41 games with Buffalo in his previous NHL stint and has been recalled Wednesday from Rochester (AHL).
Peterka failed to record a point in two games with the Sabres but did not look out of place at the NHL level. His stay was never expected to be a long one, so he gets sent back to the AHL to clear the way for Jeff Skinner to return from the COVID-19 protocol list.
With five forwards on the COVID-19 protocol list, the Sabres have dipped into the AHL and called up some of their top prospects. Peterka, who was the No.34 overall pick in 2020, has scored four goals with 16 assists (20 points) in 23 AHL games this season--his first year in North America. He will likely make his NHL debut on Wednesday.
