Boychuk left Game 1 after playing just 5:17 TOI and did not return. The Islanders did not practice on Monday so the Islanders did not have much of an update on the veteran's status. Look for Andy Greene or Noah Dobson to replace Boychuk on Game 2.
Boychuk has failed to record a point with two shots on goal while playing 19:53 ATOI in the first two games of the season. Rookie Noah Dobson will replace Boychuk on the third pairing.
Boychuk was forced to leave Game 4 in Pittsburgh with a lower-body injury and will likely miss most of the second-round against the Capitals/Hurricanes. Thomas Hickey is expected to replace Boychuk in Game 1 of the next round.
Boychuk was forced to leave Saturday’s game against the Flyers with a concussion he suffered on a hit from Jakub Voracek. The Flyers winger was suspended two games for the hit but it will cost Boychuk at least one game as well. Thomas Hickey will play in Boychuk’s place.
Boychuk missed Saturday’s practice to be with his wife for the birth of their son and the Islanders are unsure whether or not he will travel to Dallas. Devon Toews will replace Boychuk if doesn’t play.
Boychuk will come out of the lineup on Thursday and he will talk with the Islanders and doctors to determine whether or not he will need surgery this offseason. Brandon Davidson is expected to replace Boychuk in the lineup tonight.
Boychuk has been battling a lower-body injury since December 27th and the Islanders are still unsure how long the veteran defenseman will be out for. In the mean time, Sebastian Aho will remain a key member of the Islanders blueline until Boychuk is deemed healthy again.

Boychuk finished Wednesday’s game vs. the Sabres but he must have sustained a lower-body injury somewhere throughout the game. Boychuk will likely miss a couple of weeks so the Islanders have recalled Sebastian Aho from Bridgeport (AHL).
Boychuk has missed the last three games with an undisclosed injury and is listed as a game-time decision for the second straight game. Boychuk would likely replace Ryan Pulock in the lineup if he does play—he has three goals and five assists (eight points) in 27 games.
