Bernier gets the tougher of the back-to-back starts as Reimer is expected to go tomorrow vs. Buffalo.
Bernier allowed four goals on 35 shots in the Maple Leafs’ loss to the Rangers on Saturday. He was given Sunday night off, but will be back between the pipes tonight vs. the Bruins. In his first start against Boston he gave up four goals on 25 shots in a 4-1 defeat.
Bernier allowed three goals on 34 shots in the Maple Leafs shootout loss to the Avalanche on Thursday. It has been an OK start to the year for Bernier, who has a 2.59 GAA and .916 SV%, but just three wins to show for it. He will face the Rangers tonight—he stopped 11 of 12 shots in a 6-3 win after replacing an injured James Reimer on October 12th.
Bernier stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Maple Leafs win over the Blue Jackets last Friday. He was given the last two games off, but will be back in the crease tonight having won three of his last four. Tonight, he faces an Avs team who rank 23rd in the NHL in scoring (2.36 G/PG).
The Maple Leafs did not hold a morning skate today, but the belief is that Bernier will be between the pipes after sitting on Saturday. He went 3-3-1 with a 2.57 GAA and .917 SV% in October and starts November with a great matchup. Arizona is allowing the most goals against and are t-19th in scoring (2.54 G/PG).

Bernier kept the Leafs in Satruday's contest in Detroit, stopping 31 straight shots, before Henrik Zetterbeg blasted one by him with nine seconds left in Overtime. It was by far his best game of the season and he will look to carry it into tonight's meeting with the up-start Islanders.

Bernier had a tremendous preseason, winning all three games and posting a 1.17 GAA and .958 SV%. Bernier enjoyed a solid debut season with the Leafs, winnings 26 of 55 games with a 2.68 GAA and .923 SV%. The Maple Leafs are taking a more balanced approach into the 2014-15 season and it should provide Bernier with more stable play in front of him, which in turn, should improve Bernier's splits.
The injury also cost Bernier five games in March. He said he would be healthy for training camp in September. "I felt pretty good," he said. "It was sore but my range, my stretching was fine. I think a lot of players play through that." Bernier had a 26-19-7 record this season with a 2.68 GAA and .923 SV%. In a very frustrating season for the Maple Leafs, Bernier was a bright spot and proved that he can be a number-1 goalie in the NHL.
Bernier was injured on Thursday night and will now miss the rest of the regular season and start of the playoffs (if the Leafs qualify). The last time Bernier was hurt, James Reimer struggled and the Leafs went on a big-time losing streak that may end up costing them the playoffs. Reimer will get a chance to redeem himself in Toronto's remaining four games.
Bernier left eight minutes into the third period. He stopped 25 of 27 shots and left with a 3-2 lead intact. James Reimer who replaced Bernier allowed the game-tying goal, but the Leafs went on to win the contest 4-3 in OT. Bernier will undergo an MRI on Friday, no word if it is related to the groin injury that cost him five games in March.
Bernier stopped 22 of 24 shots in a win over the Flames on Tuesday. The win snapped a person four-game losing streak for Bernier and a eight-game skid for the Leafs. The win keeps the Maple Leafs afloat in the Eastern Conference playoff race, but they will be in tough tonight vs. the Bruins. Bernier is 1-1-0 with a 3.58 GAA and .911 SV% against Boston this season.
