He was scheduled to start Tuesday in Minnesota but head coach John Tortorella reneged with Korpisalo recently returning from injury. The 25-year-old comes into Friday at 12-8-1 with a 2.37 GAA, .910 SV% and two shutouts on home ice this year.

Korpisalo allowed one goal on 15 shots after replacing an injured Elvis Merzlikins in the Blue Jackets overtime win over the Senators last night. Tonight will be his first start since December 29th and he comes in at 18-10-4 with a 2.48 GAA and .914 SV% on the season. Tonight he faces a Wild team that has gone 6-3-1 while scoring 2.90 goals per game in their last 10 games.

The Blue Jackets have activated Joonas Koprisalo from IR and recalled him from Cleveland (AHL).

Korpisalo has been out since December 29th but comes back up after a one-game conditioning stint. Korpisalo, who was red-hot before he got hurt, stopped 32 of 34 shots in a winning effort in his game with Cleveland. Elvis Merzlikins has had a more difficult time recently, so Korpisalo should get a decent workload upon his return.

Head coach John Tortorella said that Korpisalo would be out "weeks" but it is officially at least one month. The Blue Jackets will be without their starting netminder until early-to-mid February, forcing Elvis Merzlikins into the No.1 role for the first time in his career.

Korpisalo has been among the best goalies in the NHL since mid-November, ranking first in the NHL in wins (11), tied for second in shutouts (2), tied for sixth in GAA (2.04) and tied for 10th in SV% (.926) over that span. Korpisalo suffered a knee injury during the shootout vs. Chicago last night and now the Blue Jackets turn to an inexperienced duo of Elvis Merzlikins and Matiss Kivlenieks.

Korpisalo was hurt in the first round of the shootout during the Blue Jackets' loss to the Blackhawks on Sunday. He showed some discomfort after Jonathan Toews scored on him and it got progressively worse, ending in Korpisalo being wheeled into the dressing room on a gurney. Korpisalo is set to undergo an MRI and further evaluation before the Blue Jackets release a detailed timetable.

Korpisalo allowed two goals on 37 shots in the Blue Jackets' win over the Islanders on Monday. Korpisalo is on a five-game winning streak, posting a really impressive 1.60 GAA, .941 SV% and one shutout. The shutout came against the Capitals, who he'll face for the third time this season--he is 2-0 and has stopped 67 of 69 shots (.971 SV%) in the first two meetings.

Korpisalo gave up three goals on 21 shots in the Blue Jackets' win in Detroit on Tuesday. It wasn't his best outing but it was enough to earn the victory and move him to 3-0-2 with a 1.69 GAA, .943 SV% and one shutout in his last five games. Now they return home, where Korpisalo has gone 9-8-1 with a 2.53 GAA, .905 SV% and two shutouts this season.

Korpisalo stopped all 30 shots that he faced in the Blue Jackets' shutout win over the Capitals last night. With Elvis Merzlikins struggling and a very winnable game on-tap, Korpisalo will start on back-to-back nights. He allowed four goals on 26 shots in a win in his first start vs. the Red Wings and is 2-0-2 with a 1.34 GAA and .958 SV% in his last four starts.

Korpisalo allowed two goals on 19 shots after replacing Elvis Merzlikins in the Blue Jackets' overtime loss in Ottawa on Saturday. Korpisalo's last three outings have all been strong, as he's posted a .944 SV% but has lost two of three. The win came against the Capitals, who he'll face again tonight--last Monday he stopped 37 of 39 in a 5-2 victory.

Korpisalo allowed two goals on 39 shots in the Blue Jackets' win in Washington on Monday. It was an outstanding outing for Korpisalo, who will make his 24th start of the season on Thursday. In his first start against the Penguins, Korpisalo stopped 29 of 31 shots in a 5-2 win in late-November.

Since his four-game winning streak was snapped, Korpisalo has lost three of his last four games while posting a 2.80 GAA and .889 SV%. Things could get worse on Monday. The Capitals have won six in a row while scoring 4.00 goals per game, so Korpisalo is a low-end option to start the week.

Tonight he takes on a Coyotes team that has lost four of their last six (2-2-2) while scoring just 2.33 goals per game.
