Despite Sergei Bobrovsky being activated from IR, it looks like Korpisalo will get another shot in goal with the Avalanche in town. Colorado comes into town having won four of their last six.

Korpisalo allowed four goals on 30 shots in the Blue Jackets loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday. Anton Forsberg started last night, so Korpisalo will start tonight in Toronto. Korpisalo has gone 1-4-1 with a 3.69 GAA and a .882 SV% on the season and should be avoided for better options tonight.

The Blue Jackets have recalled Joonas Korpisalo from Lake Erie (AHL).

Korpisalo was originally sent down because Sergei Bobrovsky was expected to return to the crease, but Bobrovsky suffered a setback and is back on IR. Then, Curtis McElhinney landed on IR, so back comes Korpisalo, who will join Anton Forsberg as the Blue Jackets’ goalies for the foreseeable future. Korpisalo is 1-4-0 with a 3.65 GAA and .886 SV% in five starts.

Korpisalo made 30 saves on 32 shot attempts in the Blue Jackets win over Philadelphia on Saturday. It was his first win of his NHL career and it was done in impressive fashion. He has posted a 2.94 GAA and .909 SV% in three starts and tonight he will face a Penguins team that will be without Sidney Crosby and that has lost five in a row while averaging just 1.20 goals per game.

Korpisalo, 21, was the Blue Jackets third round pick (62nd overall) in 2012. Korpisalo has gone 5-4-2 with a 2.12 GAA and .928 SV% in 11 games with Lake Erie and has been recalled because Sergei Bobrovsky was injured in Tuesday’s loss to the Kings. His recall suggests that Bobrovsky won’t be available for Thursday’s game, in which case Korpisalo will likely dress as Curtis McElhinney’s backup.
