



It's unclear when Anderson picked up the injury, but he will be unavailable for Saturday's game vs. the Oilers. The Canadiens recalled Joshua Roy on Friday, so he could make his NHL debut in Anderson's spot.

Andersen has been battling an undisclosed injury after playing 15:18 time-on-ice on Tuesday against the Dallas Stars but will not miss any game action as he is expected to play on Thursday against the Buffalo Sabres. Anderson only has six goals through 37 games this season but has six points (5G / 1A) in his last eight.

Anderson suffered a lower-body injury late in the third period of Tuesday's game vs. the Lightning and will not play Thursday in Boston. Jake Evans may return from a lower-body injury of his own to replace Anderson in the lineup.

Anderson will miss Tuesday's game in Detroit and Wednesday's game vs. the Canucks. Expect Evgenii Dadonov to replace him in the lineup if he's activated from IR.


Anderson has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury but could be back in the lineup vs. the Senators. Anderson is considered a game-time decision, so monitor his status as the Canadiens hit the ice for warmups at 6:30 PM ET.


Anderson has been out since December 2nd but is expected to play Monday in Arizona. Anderson, who will likely return to a line with Christian Dvorak, has 13 points (7G / 6A) in 25 games this season.

Anderson's original timetable was 2-to-4 weeks but has been downgraded. Anderson will likely be out until at least the end of January/early February.


Anderson was not on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate and will be a game-time decision vs. the Kings due to a non-COVID-19 related illness. Expect Adam Brooks to replace him in the lineup if he can't play.

The team called Anderson "day-to-day" and they are "hopeful" that he'll be available on Saturday. After acquiring Anderson from the Blue Jackets, GM Marc Bergevin inked the rugged winger through the 2027 season. The deal leaves the Canadiens with ≈$5.37M in cap space heading into free agency. Anderson, Shea Weber, Jeff Petry and Carey Price are the only four skaters in Montreal currently signed through the 2024 season.

Anderson dealt with shoulder issues all throughout 2020, limiting him to just 26 games and four points (1G / 3A). In 2019, Anderson scored a career-high 27 goals with 20 assists (47 points) in 82 games. He was one of three players who had 20-plus goals and 200-plus hits in 2019--Alex Ovechkin and Blake Coleman were the other two, pretty good company. Anderson's rugged style of play is exactly what the Habs were in search of and he will pair nicely on the second line with Nick Suzuki.
