With Tyler Myers getting injured on Thursday, the Jets have recalled Ellerby, who will likely be in the lineup on Saturday. The 26-year-old blue liner has 16 points (3G / 13A) in 41 games with St. John’s (AHL) this season.
Ellerby, 26, has been limited to 18 games in St. John’s due to injury. In those 18 contests he has totalled six assists and a minus-5 rating. He had six points (2G / 4A) in 51 games with the Jets last season.
Ellerby was claimed off of waivers from Los Angeles on Saturday. The former 10th overall pick in 2007 has played 160 NHL regular season games with the Florida Panthers and the Kings. Ellerby has just two goals and 18 assists (20 points) in those 160 games- he isn't a fantasy worthy defenseman. He will be paired with Adam Pardy tonight.
Ellerby has yet to appear in a game this season after registering three assists in 35 games last season with the Kings. He has 20 points in 160 career NHL regular season games.
Ellerby will enter the lineup with Greene out with an injury.
