Timonen is out with a lower-body injury.

The 38-year-old defenseman has two goals and 17 assists in his 55 games this season. The Finnish Olympian had been bothered by a foot injury recently. He left Tuesday’s game against the Detroit in the second period after blocking a shot. The Flyers officially list Timonen as “day-to-day” with a “lower-body” injury. Timonen didn’t practice with the Flyers Friday. Filling in his place is Andrej Meszaros. The 28-year-old Slovakian has four goals and 11 assists in 32 games this season. All 23 games he’s missed have been as a healthy scratch.

Timonen injured his left foot whle blocking a first-period shot during Tuesday’s 5-0 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings. He played briefly in the second period, but was then replaced and didn’t return. When asked after Wednesday morning’s practice if Timonen would play Thursday, Berube said, “yes.”

Timonen was injured after blocking a shot against the Red Wings on Tuesday and will not practice Wednesday. However, he will travel with the team on their three-game west coast road-trip. That is good news as far as the severity of the injury is concerned. If it was serious injury, he would be held back in Philly, expect a full update later today.

He took a crosscheck from Jamie Benn that period and did not return. Timonen is listed as day to day. “I’ve seen better days,” Timonen said. He denied he was injured during the crosscheck, but would not elaborate on how it occurred.

Timonen left Thursday's game with a lower-body injury and did not return. The Flyers did not play over the weekend and don't play again until Thursday, Timonen will likely be ready to go. Reports are that he doesn't appear to have any restrictions this morning so that is a good sign that he will be available vs. the Rangers.

Timonen appeared in 19 shifts through the first two periods of play and posted 13 minutes of ice time, before leaving the game. He has played in all seven games so far this season, going scoreless and recording 21:43 of ice time to lead all defensemen and second-most on the team, behind only Claude Giroux (22:04).
