Timonen suffered an upper-body injury early in Sunday’s loss to the Blues and he will be held out of the lineup tonight vs. the Wild. With Timonen out, David Rundblad will be back in the lineup tonight. Timonen is day-to-day.

Timonen, 39, is in his 16th NHL season and that will be all she wrote for the Finnish blue liner. He has 117 goals and 454 assists (652 points)i in 1093 career games. He is on a very good Blackhawks team, giving him a chance to finish his NHL career with a Cup.

Timonen has not played all season, but that did not deter the Blackhawks from adding him to their roster on Friday. Timonen is expected to play with Keith Seabrook at even strength and practiced on their top power-play unit on Sunday.

Timonen has not played yet this season because of blood-clots, but he was due to make his season debut on Saturday. The 39-year-old scored six goals with 29 assists (35 points) in 77 games a season ago. He is a solid veteran blue liner who can skate, move the puck and score.

Timonen said that he needs a few more practices before he returns to the lineup. He doesn’t anticipate playing on Tuesday or Thursday, but is hopeful that he will make his season debut on Saturday vs. the Rangers.

Timonen still has not played this season, but it sounds like he will be back in the middle of next week or next weekend after returning to Flyers practice on Monday.

Timonen, who has not played yet this season, has been skating on his own since February 6th, but will participate in the Flyers morning skate on Tuesday. This is a huge step for Timonen, who could be back in the lineup in late-February or early-March.

Timonen is targeting next Tuesday’s morning skate as his first full practice with the team and hopes to be back in the lineup by the end of the month.

Timonen, 39, has not played since being diagnosed with blood clots in his leg and lungs in August. Timonen said his plan was to skate on his own for seven to 10 days, and if that goes well, join the Flyers for practice.If Timonen can return, it would be a huge boost for the Flyers blue line, he had 35 points (6G / 29A) in 77 games a season ago.

Flyers GM Ron Hextall said that “there’s still a chance [Timonen] can play”, but he won’t be able to return to the ice until the blood clots clear his leg.

Timonen has not played yet this season because of blood clots in his right leg and lungs. He will meet with doctors to determine whether or not he will be able to play again. The Flyers could certainly use the veteran blueliner back in their lineup.

The Flyers will proceed as if this a “long term” situation, and try to sign a player via free agency or a trade. Timonen is out indefinitely. They are more than $3 million over the NHL salary cap of $69 million for the coming season. “We believe it could be a long-term situation and will continue to evaluate what is out there,” GM Ron Hextall said during a conference call. “If we feel we need to make a move we will and I would suspect there’s a good chance we will.”

During his seven seasons with the Flyers, Timonen has won five Barry Ashbee trophies as the team’s best defenseman, including the last three in a row. Timonen finished the 2013-14 season with six goals and 29 assists (35 points) in 77 games. In seven years with Philly he has averaged 38.6 points per season, that is including 29 points in 45 games in the lockout shortened season. Despite getting up there in age, Timonen has only missed a total of 21 regular season games in his tenure with the Flyers. He should be a reliable blueliner yet again in 2014-15.

Timonen missed Tuesday's game in St. Louis with a stomach virus, but will be back in when the Flyers host the Blue Jackets tonight. Timonen has one goal and five assists in his last eight games.

There is no word on when Timonen was injured. He is considered doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Blues.

Flyers head coach Craig Berube said that TImonen has "no legs" right now, but he will only sit vs. the Sharks and be back in the lineup on Saturday vs. the Rangers.

Timonen returned to practice with the Flyers on Wednesday, but skated on the extra pair with Hal Gill. Skating with Gill suggests that the Flyers may elect to give Timonen the night off on Thursday after playing six games with Finland at the Olympics. Monitor his status during Thursday's morning skate. The Flyers D-pairs will be: Meszaros-Streit, Coburn-Grossmann, Gustafsson-L. Schenn.

Timonen missed the last two games with a foot injury, but will return to the lineup toning vs. Colorado. He will play alongside Brayden Coburn and also man the point on the top power-play unit. He has two goals and 17 assists (19 points) in 55 games this season.

Timonen is skating on a regular D-pair with Brayden Coburn and participating with the top-unit in power-play drills, all signs pointing towards him returning. With the Olympics just a few days away, Timonen wants to get a few games in before heading to Sochi to represent Finland for the fourth time. Andrej Meszaros will sit with Timonen coming back.

It appears Timonen will miss his third straight game tomorrow. He is skating as an extra at Flyers' practice this morning which suggests that he won't play. However it is a positive sign that he is on the ice, don't rule him out but he is questionable.
