The Islanders have signed Kyle MacLean to a three-year contract extension.

MacLean made his NHL debut in 2023-24 and has earned himself a three-year, contract extension with the New York Islanders on Wednesday. The 25-year-old spent time in 2023-24 split between the Bridgeport Islanders (43 GP) and New York (32 GP) and had four goals and nine assists with the Islanders during his inaugural NHL season.

MacLean did not participate in the morning skate on Monday and will be a game-time decision vs. New Jersey. The 24-year-old will be replaced by Simon Holmstrom if he is unable to go tonight. Through 30 games played, the rookie has three goals, seven points, 25 SOG, 11 PIMs and a +5 plus/minus.

MacLean will likely suit up on the fourth line in his NHL debut on Friday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The undrafted 24-year-old out of Livingston, New Jersey has spent the entirety of the last four seasons in the AHL, tallying 78 points (29G / 49A) in 193 games.

MacLean is one step closer to following in his 18-year NHL veteran father's footsteps as he has been recalled from Bridgeport (AHL) to the New York Islanders for the first time in his career. The 24-year-old undrafted free agent forward has enjoyed a solid AHL season with 19 points (6G/13A) in 36 games played prior to his call up.
