Vey worked in the Flames’ top-6 throughout the preseason, but was one of the last cuts after clearing waivers. He had 15 points (3G / 12A) in 26 games with Utica (AHL) last year and should post solid numbers in Stockton this year.

Vey, 24, was looking like a promising prospect in 2012 and 2013 after having huge seasons with the Kings AHL affiliate, but struggled once he was with the Canucks. In two seasons, Vey picked up just 14 goals and 25 assists (39 points) in 116 games. He will get a chance to crack the Flames roster in training camp, but could start the year with Stockton (AHL).
Vey missed Tuesday’s game with an undisclosed injury, but will return tonight in San Jose. Vey has just one assist in his last 10 games and 15 points (4G / 11A) in 39 games this season.

This is Vey’s fourth re-call of the season. The 22-year-old rookie has appeared in 18 games for the Kings this season (his first in the NHL), recording five points (all assists) and zero penalty minutes. Vey will join the team in San Jose but will not play tonight.
