Chrona was acquired by the Predators alongside David Edstrom and a 2025 1st-round pick (VGK - Top 10 protected) from San Jose for Yaroslav Askarov, Nolan Burke and a 2025 3rd-round pick on Friday. Mackenzie Blackwood suffered an undisclosed injury on Tuesday, forcing him to exit the Sharks 7-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils in the first period with an undisclosed injury. Blackwood has been placed on IR, prompting the Sharks to recall Chrona for the second time this season. Chrona has struggled immensely in limited action with the Sharks this season, posting a 9.50 GAA and .724 SV% in two appearances (0-1-0).

Chrona was recalled by the Sharks earlier this week after Mackenzie Blackwood was ruled unable to play due to an illness. The Sharks will turn to Chrona for the first start of his career on the back end of a back-to-back Thursday in a difficult matchup against the Edmonton Oilers. He entered a game in relief earlier this season for the Sharks, allowing four goals on 17 shots (.765 SV%), but has spent most of the season with the San Jose Baracuda of the AHL, posting a 3.35 GAA and .900 SV% in 11 games (3-6-2). Chrona and the Sharks' outlook for Thursday is not promising as they are +360 road underdogs and the Oilers.

Mackenzie Blackwood is expected to miss Wednesday vs. Los Angeles due to illness so Magnus Chrona has been recalled from the San Jose Barracuda (AHL) to backup. The 23-year-old has appeared once in relief this season for San Jose during a previous call up, posting a .765 SV% and 7.87 GAA in a rough but short appearance.

Kaapo Kahkonen left Thursday's game with an upper-body injury, so Chrona has been summoned from the AHL, most likely to serve as Mackenzie Blackwood's backup on Saturday. The 23-year-old netminder has gone 0-3-1 with a 4.82 GAA and .871 SV% in four AHL games this season.

Chrona was a fifth-round pick in 2018 and just finished his second season at the University of Denver. Chrona was 7-11-0 with a 2.47 GAA and .907 SV% in 18 games in 2021.
