Rossi had an assist, 13 SOG, eight PIMs and a -7 plus/minus across 19 games with Minnesota but has been reassigned to Iowa (AHL) on Friday. The 21-year-old returns to the minors, where he had 16 goals, 50 points and a 46 PIMs across 51 games played.
Rossi has not played for the Wild since November 17th but has been recalled from Iowa (AHL) and is expected to draw into the Wilds' lineup Monday vs. Chicago. The 21-year-old has an assist, 11 SOG, six PIMs and a -4 plus/minus through 16 NHL games this season.
Rossi has been a healthy scratch for four straight games and will head to the AHL to get some playing time. Rossi has just one assist in 16 games this season but registered 53 points (18G / 35A) in 63 AHL games last year.
Rossi was the No.9 overall pick in 2020 and has been outstanding in his professional season. The 20-year-old has scored seven goals with 16 assists (23 points) in 21 games with Iowa this season. Rossi is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday.
Rossi's seven-day quarantine after arriving from the World Juniors has ended but the Wild unexpectedly announced that he is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury without ever practicing with the team. Rossi was expected to start the season with the Wild and play the maximum six games before decided whether to keep him on the roster or send him back to Zurich (Swiss-A). Expect the Wild to provide another update after Rossi undergoes further testing.
Rossi was the No.9 overall pick in the latest NHL Draft after leading the OHL with 120 points (39G / 81A) in 56 games with the Ottawa 67's. With the OHL season in limbo, Rossi will probably get a chance to make the Wild out of training camp but he will likely go to the OHL once their season gets underway.
