Boston brought back a staple of the Providence Bruins (AHL) on Tuesday as they resigned Marc McLaughlin to a one-year, two-way contract extension. The 24-year-old centre only appeared in one game for Boston in 2023-24 but had his first career goal. In 68 games with Providence in 2023-24, he had eight goals and 14 points in 68 games played.
McLaughlin is an undrafted 24-year-old out of Boston College with 13 NHL games under his belt. He has 11 points (6G / 5A) in 53 games with the Providence Bruins this season.
McLaughlin was an undrafted free agent out of Boston College, who signed with his hometown Bruins a few weeks ago. The 22-year-old will replace Craig Smith, who is out with an illness.
The recently signed McLaughlin did not appear in a game with Providence. He could make his NHL debut on Monday with Patrice Bergeron out and Jack Studnicka questionable.
The contract will carry an $883,750 AAV cap hit for the undrafted free agent out of Boston College. The 22-year-old forward leads Boston College in goals (21) and is second in points (32) in 33 games this season.
