Murray allowed six goals on 32 shots in the Penguins loss to New Jersey on Monday. It was a rare loss for Murray, who has been lights out since returning from injury. Tonight he draws a brutal matchup vs. the NHL’s top team—Murray allowed four goals on 26 shots in a 4-3 loss in his first start vs. the Lightning (Nov.15).

Murray has been excellent and is a quality option against a Devils team that is still missing Taylor Hall.

Murray stopped 36 of 37 shots in the Penguins win over the Panthers on Tuesday. Murray can’t be beat right now. Since returning from his injury, Murray has gone 7-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, .970 SV% and two shutouts in seven games. Over the course of the season, Murray has gone 7-0-1 with a 1.78 GAA, .948 SV% and two shutouts on the road.

Murray stopped all 33 shots that he faced in the Penguins shutout win over the Jets last Friday. Murray has been absolutely unbelievable since returning from his injury, going 7-0-0 with a 1.27 GAA, .962 SV% and two shutouts in seven starts. He is a must-start right now regardless of the matchup.

Murray allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Penguins win in New York on Wednesday. Murray continued his dominant play since returning from injury, extending his winning streak to six games—posting a 1.48 GAA, .955 SV% and one shutout in the process. The Jets have gone 12-6-0 on the road this season and are averaging the seventh most goals per game (3.41).

Murray allowed one goal on 31 shots in the Penguins win in St. Louis last Saturday. Murray has been sensational since returning to the Penguins crease, going 5-0-0 with a 1.38 GAA, .959 SV% and one shutout. Murray should be able to continue his hot stretch against a Rangers team that has scored the eighth fewest goals per game (2.79) in their first 38 games.

Murray stopped all 39 shots that he faced in the Penguins shutout win in Carolina last Saturday. Murray has been brilliant since returning from injury, winning three straight games while stopping 108 of the 112 shots (.964 SV%) that he has faced. Murray has a good chance to make it four in a row against a Red Wings team without two top-6 forwards and their top defenseman.

Murray stopped 31 of the 32 shots that he faced in the Penguins win in Washington on Wednesday. Murray has been great since returning from a lower-body injury, winning two in a row while stopping 69 of the 73 shots (.945 SV%) that he faced. Tonight he faces a Hurricanes team that has seven of their last nine (2-5-2).

The 24-year-old has gone 1-5-0 with a horrifying 5.48 GAA and .823 SV% in six starts at the PPG Paints Arena this season. He has a good chance to get back on-track against a Kings team that is 4-10-1 on the road and last in the NHL in goal-scoring (2.15 GF/pg).

Things likely won’t get any easier against a Bruins team that has won three in a row but rank 27th in goal-scoring (2.71 GF/pg).

Murray has been out since November 17th but will be available to start or backup on Wednesday. Casey DeSmith has played very well since Murray got hurt, so Murray could be the Penguins No.2 netminder moving forward. The 24-year-old has gone 4-5-1 with a .877 SV% this season.
