Tkachuk (illness) is out on Monday and is expected to miss a week.

The Panthers' head coach Paul Maurice reported that Tkachuk is battling an illness and targeting a return on October 22nd against the Minnesota Wild. Over the past three seasons, Tkachuk has been among the league leaders in the NHL, averaging 1.25 points per game. Florida's top line is nearly completely decimated for the time being as they are also without Aleksander Barkov (lower-body). Sam Bennett and Evan Rodrigues will likely be the beneficiaries on the top line and top powerplay unit in the interim.

Tkachuk (undisclosed) will play on Thursday vs. Nashville.

Tkachuk recorded two points (1G / 1A) in the Panthers' last outing, a 5-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 16th, but suffered an undisclosed injury at some point, initially making him questionable for the team's Thursday night contest against the Nashville Predators. The 26-year-old Tkachuk has been tremendous in the latter half of the season, tallying 56 points (17G / 39A) in his last 38 games after being held to only 16 points (5G / 11A) in his previous 26.

Matthew Tkachuk will be out of the Panthers' lineup Thursday (illness).

Tkachuk has 14 goals, 25 assists, 107 SOG, 45 PIMs and a +8 plus/minus through 28 games to start his Florida Panthers' tenure so if he is forced to miss anytime due to illness it will be a massive loss for Florida. He will be a game-time decision and should know by warmups if he is good to go for their game vs. Pittsburgh.
