Grabner had one-year left on his three-year contract that carried a $3.35M AAV. The buyout will carry an $833K cap-hit in 2021 and $1.258M cap-hit in 2022. The 33-year-old, who had eight goals and three assists (11 points) in 46 games last year, is now an unrestricted free agent.
Grabner was a healthy scratch on Sunday but will play for the second time in three games on Tuesday. Grabner, who has 11 points (8G / 3A) in 40 games, will replace Christian Fischer.
Grabner has not played in the last five games but will replace Christian Fischer in the lineup in Carolina. Grabner has just 11 points (8G / 3A) in 39 games this season.
Grabner is a little banged up, so he won't play vs. the Maple Leafs on Thursday. Barrett Hayton will replace Grabner on the Coyotes' fourth-line.
Grabner has ben out since December 1st but will play Thursday vs. the Flames. It is not clear where Grabner will slot back into the lineup but he comes into play with 11 points (6G / 5A) in 25 games this season.
Over the last two seasons, Grabner is tied for 35th in the NHL with 54 goals. However, he leads the league in empty net goals (11) over that span. That’s 20.4 percent of his goals without a goalie, so don’t expect the 30-year-old to score 25-plus goals each year. In Arizona, he brings a ton of speed, some offence and penalty killing to a young team in need of all of those qualities.
The Rangers are reportedly close to moving Grabner so they will sit him tonight as a precautionary measure.
Grabner was on the ice for the Rangers’ morning skate, but will miss his fifth straight game with a hip injury. He is nearing a return to the lineup, but it won’t come until Sunday in Detroit at the earliest.
Grabner left Wednesday’s practice with a hip issue and is questionable for tomorrow’s game in Boston. Monitor his status during the Rangers morning skate.
Grabner missed Tuesday’s game because he was back in Austria attending a funeral, but will be back in for Jimmy Vesey (upper-body) tonight. Grabner has picked up 13 goals and four assists (17 points) in 26 games this season.
Grabner’s grandmother has passed away and he will head back to Austria and miss at least Tuesday’s game vs. the Islanders. With Grabner out, the Rangers recalled Marek Hrivik from Hartford (AHL).
Grabner, 28, is a former 30-goal scorer (34 in 2010-11) but has struggled for the last four seasons, especially in Toronto in 2015-16, where he tallied 18 points (9G / 9A) in 80 games. The Rangers top-6 is pretty much set in stone, so Grabner will bring some speed to their bottom-6 as he hopes to regain his scoring touch.
Grabner, 27, was limited to 34 games last season due to a multitude of injuries including sports hernia surgery. In the 34 games he played in, the speedy winger tallied eight goals and five assists (13 points). He had a career-high 34 goals in 2010-11, but since then he has scored just 56 goals in four seasons. This trade helps his fantasy value because he moves from a team with an ultra crowded top-six to a team who is very thin at forward.
Grabner was a healthy scratch on Tuesday, but will be in for Frans Nielsen tonight, who is a little banged up. Grabner has collected 12 points (7G / 5A) in 29 games this season.
