The Blackhawks have traded Kempny to the Capitals in exchange for a third-round draft pick.
Kempny is expected to be a healthy scratch on Saturday.
Kempny has played in the last two games, but it looks like he will be replace by Carl Dahlstrom in the lineup in Minnesota.
The Blackhawks signed Michal Kempny to a one-year contract extension worth $900K in late-May.
Kempny is coming off of his first NHL season after spending six years in the Czech league and one year in the KHL. Kempny had eight points (2G / 6A) in 50 games, but only appeared in seven games after the Blackhawks’ acquired Johnny Oduya at the trade deadline.
Kempny will be a healthy scratch on Monday.
Kempny has appeared in each of the first six games of the season, but will come out of the lineup on Monday. Kempny has no points, five shots on goal and four penalty minutes so far, but will be replaced by Michal Rozsival tonight.
