With Kurtis Foster and Toni Lydman both healthy, the Ducks have no need to keep Guenin with the big club.

ANAHEIM — If things break his way, Nate Guenin might be in the Ducks’ lineup when they open their season next week in Helsinki againt the Buffalo Sabres.
Guenin continues to play a solid game next to Sheldon Brookbank on the third pairing. Don't expect close to any offense from the former Ohio State defender as he never topped 17 points on any professional team. Look for him to stay with the team as long as Kurtis Foster and Toni Lydman stay out.
Line Change
It could mean that hopefuls with some NHL experience such as Matt Smaby, Bryan Rodney and Nate Guenin could be in the mix for the season-opening games in Helsinki and Stockholm.
Look for one of the three to take over for Foster on the blue line.
The Ducks signed defenseman Nate Guenin to a two-year contract extension through the 2012-13 season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
