Hornqvist (upper-body) will not play Saturday; expected to be back Monday.

Despite practicing most of the week, Hornqvist will not play Saturday vs. the Lightning. Head coach Joel Quenneville said that if it were Game 1 of the playoffs that Hornqvist would be in. With their playoff seed ready locked up, there's no sense rushing Hornqvist back.

Hornqvist (undisclosed) will return to the Panthers lineup on Saturday.

Hornqvist has missed the last four games with an undisclosed injury but will play Saturday vs. the Blue Jackets. In addition to Hornqvist, the Panthers will also get Aleksander Barkov back, providing a huge boost to their top-6 and power-play. The Panthers have acquired Patric Hornqvist from the Penguins in exchange for Mike Matheson and Colton Sceviour.

Hornqvist has three years left on his current deal that pays him $5.3M AAV. At 33-years-old, Hornqvist isn't as effective as he once was and injuries have become a major issue for the wing. Over his last four seasons in Pittsburgh, Hornqvist has missed 54 of the 315 games (17.1%) but was sixth on the team in points-per-game, registering 162 points (85G / 77A) in 261 games. In Florida, he will likely slot-in one the first or second line and on the top power-play.
