Hornqvist (head) is expected to play on Friday.

Hornqvist has missed the last two games with a head injury, but should be back in the lineup tonight according to coach Johnston. Hornqvist was in the morning skate so all signs point towards him returning to the lineup tonight vs. the Flames. He has 11 goals and 14 assists (25 points) in 25 games this season.

Hornqvist left last night’s game after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Canucks’ defenseman Ryan Stanton. Hornqvist has been excellent in his first year in Pittsburgh so losing him for any period of time would be crushing. The Penguins recalled Bryan Rust from the AHL this morning, which is not encouraging news for Hornqvist owners.

The Penguins have acquired Patric Hornqvist and Nick Spaling from Nashville for James Neal.

Hornqvist has 22 goals and 31 assists (53 points) in 76 games last year. 2013-14 was a career year for the 27 year-old winger who will see his fantasy value rise heading into this year. He has never played with a centre like Evgeni Malkin or Sidney Crosby, but that is about to change. Hornqvist should be around 30 goals and 30 assists with his new team.

Hornqvist (lower-body) will not play tonight.

Hornqvist was injured on Tuesday but skated this morning, however he will be held out of Tonight's game and is listed as day-to-day. The Predators will take on the Senators on Saturday, there is a good chance that Hornqvist will return then. Gabriel Bourque will replace Hornqvist in the lineup.

Hornqvist played 9:05 before retiring to the locker room for the evening. He blocked a shot in the first period which may have resulted in the lower-body injury, but that is unknown. Hornqvist is listed as day-to-day and the Predators are back in action tomorrow night, so monitor his status during their morning skate.

Hornqvist missed Monday's game after being injured on Saturday vs. New York. Hornqvist is an important part of the Preds offence and power-play with his net-front presence. His injury is not believed to be too serious, but he will not travel with the team to Columbus.

Hornqvist suffered the injury in Saturday's loss to the Rangers. He left after playing just 4:07 and did not return. Predators head coach Barry Trotz said he is hopeful to have Hornqvist back at some point over four game/six day stretch. Hornqvist has six goals and 13 points in 23 games.

Predators head coach Barry Trotz said on Monday he expected to have one of either Hornqvist or Filip Forsberg back for tomorrow's opener. It appears Hornqvist will be in the lineup after dealing with a lower-body injury at the end of the preseason.
