Word is Ducks are calling up LW Pat Maroon as per @andystrickland and @PSCrunchHockey to replace Jason Blake on roster.

Through his first two games with the Crunch, Maroon scored two goals and five points. He could draw into the lineup if Matt Beleskey is not cleared for contact.

Maroon was put on waivers as he cannot be immediately sent to the Crunch because of his four years of professional service between the Philadelphia and Anaheim organizations.

But the fact that he’s still in Anaheim and other more prominent prospects have already been assigned is a victory in itself. Like any other NHL coach, Ducks coach Randy Carlyle is intrigued with a 6-foot-4, 225-pound winger with the kind of hands that can wreak havoc on teams around the net.

Maroon should make the team as a fourth liner capable of moving up the ranks. Last season he scored 21 goals and 48 points through 57 games with the Syracuse Crunch. He has little-to-nothing left to prove at the AHL level and would be exposed to waivers if sent down.
