The 30-year-old veteran has been struggling since joining the Blackhawks, posting a 1-3-1 record with a 3.66 GAA and .889 SV%. He draws the tough task of the Dallas Stars who are second in the NHL with 3.84 goals for per game.

Alex Stalock was placed on IR Monday so news of Mrazek's return comes at just the right time for the injured Blackhawks.

It has been up and down in two starts for Mrazek, as he holds a .885 SV% and 3.50 GAA through the opening part of the season. The Blackhawks will host the Red Wings Friday who is still yet to lose in regulation after three games (2-0-1) and are averaging 4.0 GF/GP early on.

Mrazek will get his second start of the early season Saturday after getting lit up for five goals on 35 shots Wednesday vs Colorado. The 11-year veteran will be hoping a much easier matchup against the winless 0-3-0 Sharks will lead to better results in his second start of 2022-23.

Mrazek draws a terrible matchup in his inaugural game with the Blackhawks, matching up against previous Stanley Cup Champions, the Colorado Avalanche and their high-flying offence. Mrazek joins Chicago from Toronto after a terrible 2021-22 season which saw him waived after posting a .888 SV% and 3.34 GAA on one of the league's top teams.

Mrazek suffered his third groin injury of the season and is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks. Michael Hutchinson was recalled on Thursday to serve as Erik Kallgren's backup vs. the Jets. Jack Campbell could be back by the weekend to replace Mrazek on a more permanent basis. If his injury finishes Mrazek's season, he wraps it up with a 12-6-0 record, 3.34 GAA and .888 SV%.

Mrazek allowed one goal on four shots before leaving Tuesday's game in Boston with a groin injury. Erik Kallgren took over for Mrazek and will serve as the Maple Leafs' No.1 until Jack Campbell or Mrazek are back.
