Mrazek replaced James Reimer, who was hurt early in the first period and then he was hurt in a collision with Maple Leafs' forward Kyle Clifford while attempting to play the puck way outside of his crease on Saturday night and did not return. So the Hurricanes were forced to turn to 42-year-old Zamboni driver David Ayres for the final 28:41 of Saturday's 6-3 win.

Friday could be the first time Mrazek makes back-to-back starts since playing either side of the All-Star break. He played well in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Stars, stopping 33 of the 36 shots he faced. Mrazek has just two wins in his last nine games after starting the season 16-8-2. He'll hope to get back in the win column tonight against a lowly Devils team.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 18 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Columbus last Thursday. He has lost his last two starts and four of his last five with a 2.46 GAA, .911 SV% and a shutout in the lone win. Tonight he sees a Jets squad that has lost four of their last five while scoring just 11 goals (2.20 GF/gm).

Mrazek allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Washington on Monday. Mrazek has lost three of his last four even though he's posted a strong 2.31 GAA and .923 SV% in those games. Tonight he will go head-to-head with Elvis Merzlikins, who has back-to-back shutouts, but the Blue Jackets xGF in January is among the worst on the slate, making Mrazek a decent option.

Mrazek stopped all 32 shots that he faced in the Hurricanes shutout win over the Coyotes on Friday. Since the break, Mrazek has gone 3-2-0 with a 2.43 GAA, .918 SV% and one shutout in five starts. Tonight he faces the Capitals for the third time this season, he is 1-1-0 with a 4.03 GAA and .862 SV% in the previous two meetings.
