Buffalo has signed Peyton Krebs to a two-year, $2.9 million ($1,450,000 AAV) contract extension.

Krebs will remain a Sabre after agreeing to a two-year, $2.9 million ($1,450,000 AAV) contract extension on Tuesday morning. The 23-year-old was Vegas' 2019 1st-round pick (17th overall) but has spent the last three seasons in Buffalo. In 2023-24, he unfortunately failed to take an expected step forward but still put up four goals, 17 points, 67 PIMs and 74 SOG in 80 games played.

Krebs will be a healthy scratch on Wednesday, allowing Tyson Jost to re-enter the lineup. Krebs played in each of the last three games for the Sabres but did not register a single shot or point in those contests. He has one point (0G / 1A) and nine shots on goal in 17 games this season.

The Sabres' roster shuffle continues as they try to carry three goalies, so Krebs comes back up and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen goes to the AHL to make room. Krebs will likely draw into the lineup and return to his usual role on the fourth line. Krebs has picked up three goals and six assists (nine points) in 34 games this season.

Krebs has three goals, six assists, 29 SOG, 23 PIMs and a -3 plus/minus through 34 games with the Sabres' but will head down to Rochester as a paper transaction on loan. Krebs should be back up with the Sabres sooner rather than later as he is not expected to stay in the minors long.

The Sabres placed three more players in COVID-19 protocol, bringing their total to five players ahead of their game Thursday vs. the Sharks. Dylan Cozens is expected to be back in the lineup tomorrow, replacing Krebs on the second line.

With five forwards on the COVID-19 protocol list, the Sabres have dipped into the AHL and called up some of their top prospects. Krebs, who was acquired in the Jack Eichel trade, has scored four goals with 10 assists (14 points) in 16 AHL games since being acquired by the Sabres. He'll likely make his Sabres debut vs. the Devils on Wednesday.

The Golden Knights have signed Peyton Krebs to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Krebs was selected with the No.17 overall pick in this summer's draft. He tore his Achilles in June and recently started skating with the Golden Knights and inked his entry-level contract on Saturday afternoon. The 18-year-old had 68 points (19G / 49A) in 64 games with the Kootenay Ice (WHL), who he'll likely end up with when he's 100 percent healthy.
