Rasmus Asplund News
The Panthers have signed Rasmus Asplund to a one-year, two-way deal.

Asplund spent the entire 2023-24 season in the AHL, where he led the team in assists (35) and was second in points (44) in 67 games. Asplund should once again be a fringe NHLer for the Panthers and one of the first depth call-ups if he doesn't make the team out of training camp.

After spending the last two seasons exclusively in the NHL, splitting time between the Buffalo Sabres and Nashville Predators, Asplund could get his first crack at an NHL game this season after being recalled by the Panthers. In 33 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, Asplund has 19 points (4G / 15A) and 12 penalty minutes.

Asplund was the No.33 overall pick in the 2016 NHL draft and spent the first three and a half seasons with the Sabres before being traded to the Predators last March. He was not retained by Nashville and lands in Florida where he'll provide some bottom-6 depth. The 25-year-old had just eight points (2G / 6A) in 46 games between Buffalo and Nashville last season.
