Panik was dealt to Detroit as a part of the Anthony Mantha trade at least year's deadline and had one goal and three assists in 12 games with the Red Wings. Panik has two years remaining at $2.75M AAV but the Red Wings are eating 50 percent of the deal, so the Islanders have Panik at $1.375M AAV and gain $4.125M in cap space in this deal.
Panik played in the last two games but will be replaced by Jakub Vrana in the lineup on Tuesday. Panik has just one goal and two assists in his last 18 games.
Panik was high sticked by Miles Wood on Saturday and said: "his lower lip was separated from his gums." While that sounds awful, in typical hockey player fashion, Panik will not miss a game. He's had a tough offensive campaign but has three goals and three assists (six points) in his last 13 games.
Panik has missed the last 10 games with an upper-body injury but will play Monday vs. the Coyotes. Panik struggled in his first eight games with the Capitals, failing to record a point with a minus-1 rating and seven shots. He'll skate on the third line with Lars Eller and Chandler Stephenson on the Capitals' third-line.
Panik was forced to leave Wednesday’s game against the Maple Leafs after colliding heavily with teammate Jonas Siegenthaler. Immediately moving him to LTIR means it’s a fairly significant upper-body issue and means that he will miss at least 10 games or 24 days. Garnet Hathaway is expected to move up to the third line in Panik’s spot.
Panik has missed the last three games but could return to the Coyotes lineup Thursday in Vancouver. Panik has 11 goals and 13 assists (24 points) in 54 games this season.
Panik was scratched from Saturday’s game vs. Toronto due to an illness and will miss his second straight game on Monday.

Panik was acquired from the Blackhawks earlier this week and will make his Arizona debut on a line with Derek Stepan and Brendan Perlini vs. the Oilers. Panik has 16 points (6G / 10A) in 37 games this season.
Panik signed a big contract with the Blackhawks ($2.8M AAV) but has yet to replicate last year’s numbers. The 26-year-old winger showed he can put up solid numbers and will likely play a big role in Arizona. He heads to the desert with six goals and 10 assists (16 points) in 37 games this season.
With Brent Seabrook back in the Blackhawks lineup tonight, the Blackhawks will roll with seven defensemen and 11 forwards and Panik will be the forward that takes a seat.
