The Bruins signed Riley Nash to a two-year deal worth $1.8 million ($900K).

Nash, 27, was a first round pick (21st overall) in 2007 but has yet to develop into a full-time top-6 forward. He had nine goals and 13 assists (22 points) in 64 games with the Hurricanes last season. He enters the 2016-17 season with the Bruins where he will likely serve as their third-line centre.

Nash (undisclosed) will not play on Sunday.

Nash crashed hard into his own goalpost while chasing down Brock Nelson in Saturday’s overtime loss. Nash got up gingerly from the collision and will be held out of the lineup tonight. With no healthy reserve forwards on the roster, Michal Jordan will dress as a seventh defenseman.

Nash (upper-body) is expected to miss 10-14 days.

Nash will miss at least the next three games with an upper-body injury. There is a chance he could be ready for next Wednesday’s game in Colorado, but he could just as easily miss the entire West Coast trip and miss up to six games.
