Russo was called up over a week ago but sat as a reserve defenseman for four games. He swaps spots with Jordan Gross so that Russo doesn't sit for too long. The 26-year-old has eight points (1G / 7A) in 23 AHL games this season.
After three years in the Red Wings organization, Russo joined the Coyotes last season and spent the entire campaign in Tucson (AHL). The 26-year-old led all Roadrunners defensemen in points with 39 (6G / 33A) in 67 games.
Russo, 25, has registered eight assists in 13 games with Tucson this season. The former fourth-round pick has been called up because the Coyotes blueline is without Jakob Chychrun, Alex Goligoski and Jason Demers, who was injured last night. Russo has no points in 19 career NHL games (all with the Red Wings).
Russo, 24, has scored seven goals with 24 assists (31 points) in 56 games with the Griffins this season. He has been a nice free agent signing out of the University of Notre Dame and will make his NHL debut on Tuesday with Ryan Sproul (knee) sidelined.
