Grimaldi, 23, spent the majority of the 2015-16 season with the Portland Pirates (AHL) where he registered 33 points (16G / 17A) in 52 games. During his time with the Panthers, he had three goals and two assists in 20 games. The 2011 second round pick (33rd overall) will challenge for a roster spot with the Avs’ this fall.
With Vincent Trocheck out for roughly the next weeks, Grimaldi has been recalled to likely finish the season with the Panthers. Grimaldi has one goal and one assist in 14 games with Florida and 33 points (16G / 17A) in 52 games with the Pirates.
Grimaldi has one goal in 10 games with the Panthers this season. During his time in Portland, he has collected nine points (4G / 5A) in 13 games. He is expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday because Jaromir Jagr is out with an illness.
Grimaldi played a season-low 8:51 TOI on Monday and has recorded just one goal on 10 games this season. He heads back to the AHL where he has registered three assists in five games.
Grimaldi has played in the last eight games, but will serve as a healthy scratch tonight after playing a season-low 9:07 TOI on Monday. Grimaldi registered just one goal and a minus-3 rating in those eight games. Expect him to be replaced by Garrett Wilson in tonight’s lineup.
Grimaldi, who is on IR because of an ankle injury was sent to Portland likely because he is nearing a return to action. Grimaldi will probably get a back up to game speed at the AHL level before returning to the Panthers.
Grimaldi played in a matinee in the AHL this afternoon and will play again tonight for the Panthers with Aleksander Barkov out with an illness.
Grimaldi, 21, did not record a point, but had 10 shots, two PIMs and a minus-1 rating in four games during his recall. The undersized forward played very well despite not registering a point. Expect Tomas Fleischmann to draw back in on Tuesday vs. the Sharks.
