The Sabres have placed Rostislav Klesla on unconditional waivers.

This move effectively ends Klesla's NHL career. Klesla refused to report to Rochester (AHL) after being dealt to Buffalo at the trade deadline. Unconditional waivers means the Sabres will buy out his contract and any other team can pick him up for $125. Yep, no joke $125 dollars.

Klesla will elect to sit out the rest of the year rather than join the Rochester Americans.

The Americans appeared to be a pretty big winner at the trade deadline. While they lost Brayden McNabb, it looked like they would be getting a scorer in Nick Deslauriers and a veteran NHL-caliber defenseman Rostislav Klesla.Following Friday night's Amerks' 4-1 win over Rochester, head coach Chadd Cassidy said he did not know what would happen with the former Coyotes D-man. "I haven't talked to him myself. He is not here. I worry about the guys who are here," Cassidy said.

The Capitals have traded Michal Neuvirth and Rostislav Klesla to the Sabres for Jaroslav Halak and a third-round pick.

He will report Hershey (AHL).

Klesla has cleared waivers and been assigned to Portland (AHL).

Klesla missed the last four games after suffering an injury early in a contest vs. the Kings on October 24. Klesla has only appeared in seven of a possible 14 games because of concussion and this upper-body ailments. He is not a fantasy worthy defenseman having scored just 22 points in his last 110 games - stretches over three seasons.

Klesla was hit by Kings forward Jordan Nolan on the play. Klesla was alert, and waved to the crowd as he was taken from the ice. The 31-year-old defenceman was taken to hospital for further evaluation.
